OUR MISSION STATEMENT

New Community seeks God's guidance to impact our world with the message of Christ by celebrating His love, maturing His people and embracing all who come.

A NEW COMMUNITY

We are a congregation with roots in the Restoration (Stone-Campbell) Movement of the 19th century. Recognizing the division amongst various denominations, this movement sought a return to the basics of New Testament Christianity. With Jesus as Lord and the model for humanity, and the Bible as the authoritative and sacred text for Christians, the goal was a more unified church. In an attempt to conform practices to those of the New Testament a few emphases arose: rich community life, a Communion practice that is open to all Christians, Baptism by immersion in water for the repentant believer, and a commitment to biblical education.

We recognize that all human movements are fraught with difficulty and that the Restoration Movement has been subject to its own division and fracture. However, New Community Christian Church is still committed to the core principles behind this movement. We affirm the priesthood of all believers and the ethos that proclaims “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things love.”

We read, wrestle with, and learn the Bible together. We welcome healthy dialogue as we explore how the scriptures teach us the way of Jesus and wisdom for our lives.
